Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay Acrylic on pre stretched Canvas 22" x 30".  A scene of cliffs and the ocean with succulents and flower beds. The Area of Half Moon Bay.  Although this may seem like a simple painting, it was a little complicated in the composition of it.  I fought with my self to paint every plant that was there.   When I started to do that it just got too busy and uninteresting to look at.  It became more about the plants that the serenity of the ocean and sky. They all got lost.   When I used a more painterly and impressionistic method it became just about the paint and the delicate nature of the flowers was lost.   I opted for a combination of a little structure and some loose painting.  This allowed me give some layers to the scene that would have otherwise been very flat to me.   I am not sure who took the picture. I think it was either Rachna or Maria that took a picture of a scene South of San Francisco.  So thanks for the picture. I hope you all enjoy.  Visit My Fine Art America

Snowy Duluth

Snowy Duluth
From a picture my brother Jim took of Duluth Georgia when it snowed a lot in 2017 .   Acrylic on canvas 20" x 24 ".  This was a challenging and fun painting.  It was difficult to create a sense of depth with only different layers of snow.  Visit Fine my Fine Art America

The Fed

The Fed
The Fed"  Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas.  It is from a picture my wife Rachna took of the walway in front of the Fed building in Atlanta Ga.  The picure was already amazing but I wanted to re create a cathedral like feeling that was warm and inviting and still give you the sense that you are moving down the path. 12" x 16"   Fine art America

San Diego Light house

San Diego Lighthouse
Acrylic on Canvas. 16' x 20"  A very nice little lighthouse to paint.    I really enjoyed painting this one. Photo provided by Matt Pitts.
Matt Pitts: "The Old Point Loma lighthouse was active from 1855 to 1891. The lighthouse is located at the tip of Point Loma on the far side of the San Diego Bay. It was decommissioned due to the fog and low lying clouds that are well known in the area. A newer lighthouse was then located closer to the water on the very tip of Point Loma. It is now part of the Cabrillo National Monument. Point Loma was also used during WW II as a watch point for Pacific defense. The lighthouse and the keepers house are both open for viewing."  Visit my Fine Art America for a canvas reproduction.  Sold

Border Collie home

Bill's House
This was a commission by Bill. Acyclic on framed Canvas. This is a photo I took from my camera phone.  Once it is framed I will get a better picture of it.  My favorite part of this painting is the shadows.  That being said it was also the most difficult part.   Creating a sense of three dimension with most of the light direction coming from the top and front was daunting.   I still needed to give it strong light from the front give it a balance of light.  If I used too much shadows it would have been too dark and look like a big dark spot in the middle of the painting.  This way I could orchestrate focal points to let eye have pleasure of movement and dance in a static object. I hope you all enjoy.  Sold
