Hubert Humphrey Causeway

Hubert Humphrey Causeway
Hubert Humphrey Causeway  as seen from Cocoa Riverfront Park in Cocoa, Florida. 16' x 20 " Acrylic on pre-stretched  A beautiful day ending at the Riverfront Park.  There were a lot of teenagers having their pictures taken with their dates before homecoming I think.   A really nice spot to sit and look at the water.   The water was a little choppy that day.  For purchasing visit my gallery at Saatchi Art.   Visit https://www.artpal.com/dbpitts to get great prices on reprints and other merchandise.

River in Helen Georgia

River in Helen Georgia
River in Helen Georgia  30" x 40 " Acrylic on Canvas.  Thank you for the picture Rachna.   I like the way water flows in rivers.  It gives you the feeling that the river is alive.  It is faster in some places and slower in others. Sometimes even appearing to stop.  To me the flow of a river is like a snowflake, you can watch it for hours and never see the same thing twice. You can Purchase here on Saachi. You can also get canvas reprints on Fine Art America and Art Pal

Magnolia Blossom

Magnolia Blossom
"Magnolia Blossom"  16x20 Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas.  Sometimes you just gotta paint a flower.  Who doesn't love site and smell of a Magnolia blossom?  This painting for me was a little tricky because there really wasn't a whole lot of color contrast in there. Mostly a lot of green and white.   Magnolia blossoms by themselves are so beautiful that there isn't much to improve on.  In any case it was just fun to paint with my new brushes.  Thanks for the birthday present Kim. Only thing better than a new tube of paint is some new brushes to break in. Visit Reprints at Fine Art America

Chicago Drunken Buoy

Chicago Drunken Buoy
Chicago Drunken Buoy Acrylic in Pre-stretched canvas. 16" X 20".   Thank you Rachna for the Picture.  She took this one while on a tour in Chicago.  The ship we believe is named "Windy" .  A little Chicago skyline in there.  This was a lot of fun to paint. A bit challenging as there was very little in the way of color but I still wanted a kind of hazy effect without making it look like  a bowl of oatmeal. Sold

Paul's Sunset

Paul's Sunset
Paul's Sunset 12' x 9" Acrylic on pre stretched canvas .  This is from a photo Paul Diaz posted on  FB.  If I remember right he was kayaking when he took this. I am not sure of the location.  I will have to find that out and let you know where it is.  The picture itself is worthy of a wall and frame.  I started out with this as an exercise in how light can appear almost solid when it shines through the trees and into the sky.  I might have to make this a bigger painting.  It is kinda small as that was the canvas I had and I was using my mobile paints.   It is a little small but it was fun to paint none the less.  P.S. Paul thinks it may be Berkley lake

Duck Pond N. Wickham Park
Duck Pond N. Wickham Park 16" x 20" Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas.  A nice little pond with Ducks just having some  happy fun. This was a nice little challenge to create a shallow pool of water with a deeper drop off and still include the mirroring of the sky. N. Wickham Park Melbourne Fl, USA

Shanghai Noon Ramen

Shanhai Noon Ramen
Shanghai Noon Ramen  16" x 20" Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas.  Rachna loves Shanghai Noon Ramen with smoked pork.  Since she won't get any for a little while I thought I would do something fun.  It actually turned out to more fun than I anticipated.  I'll warn you, looking at this make you want to eat lots of ramen. If you are in the area it is worth a visit to eat fusion cuisine. south meets asian.

Lake Allatoona Fishing

Lake Allatoona fishing
Lake Allatoona fishing, 16 " x 20" acrylic on pre stretched canvas.  This was painted while we were at Woodruff boy scout camp.  Sorry it is  little confusing. There were a lot of things there to paint.  The problem was the light when I had the time to paint.  I happened to have a picture of Ronin fishing on lake allatoona the day we went to  camp get his rifle and shot gun merit badges.  Not my best work but given the environment and how much time I had I am satisfied with that.   There will be more woodruff paintings coming soon.  Thanks Jody and Kim for making it so I had some time to paint.   NFS   Visit Fine Art America and artpal  for canvas  reprints and other types of reprinting.

Tracy's color purple day

Tracy's Color Purple Day
"Tracy's Color Purple day"  Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas. 16" X 20" .   My Friend on fb Tracy Zavala took this picture. I think I will just quote what she said about the moment she took the picture.  "Stopped to enjoy this field & snap a photo...reminds me of the line from the book/movie, The Color Purple: "I think it piss God if when you walk by the color purple and don't notice..." -Shug Avery was the character. So of course I doubt wanna pass by the color yellow and don't notice." Thanks for the picture Tracy.   Visit Fine art America and my Artpal site for canvas reprints and other merch.

St. Augustine Light House

St. Augustine lighthouse. 16" X 20"  Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas. From a picture Rachna Pitts took.   What can I say, sometimes it just feels good when I paint a light house.   My challenge for this was the direction of the original light was not exactly where we wanted it when she took the picture.   Sometimes it helps when someone knows what I am looking for in a picture. I think we managed to make that work.  ìž˜ 했어요 Rachna. Look for canvas reprints in my Fin Art America gallery

St. Augustine Beach

St. Augustine Beach
St. Augustine Beach. Acrylic on pre- stretched canvas. 16" x 20".   From a Picture Rachna took while were vacationing in St. Augustine.   I was looking to capture that moment when you first get to the beach and realize you are actually there.  A kind of wonder and amazement that we all feel every time you go to the beach.  Kinda like visiting an old friend. Visit Fine Art America for reprints and other merchandise.

Amicalola Falls

Amicalola Falls
Amicalola Falls. 16' x 20 "  Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas. From a picture that Suzanne Saunders took while hiking with my brothers and posted of fb.    I am not sure what section of the falls this is.  All I can say about this is I just had a lot fun with it.   It was a bit of a challenge to create a sense of depth using color as a good bit of Georgia in the woods tends to be a lot of the same kinds of green and brown. Visit Fine Art America for reprints and other merchandise.

Mountain Cactus

Mountain Cactus
Mountain Cactus. 16" x 20 " Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas.  This was from a picture that came to me by my friend Matt Barkman.  I think it from a picture that a friend of his posted on facebook. I can't tell you exactly where it is yet, but maybe Matt will leave a comment about the location and who took the picture.  It was a lot of fun to paint.   I think if I got to see it personally, I would probably sit there a long time. What a view.  Visit my  Fine art America gallery for reprint options.

Backyard Stream

Backyard Stream
Backyard Stream, Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas.  16" X 20 " .  Thank you Kim  Legrand for letting me use the photo.  This view comes from Her brother David Waid's backyard.  Already a incredible picture before I got a hold of it.  I must admit I have a little difficulty in letting this one go. I really just enjoy looking at this painting. There is a kind of gentle serenity when I look at it.  It was a real challenge to create the different planes to make you feel the water moving and make some distance without it getting "too busy". I feel like I could put my feet in that cool stream after an long hike.  Sorry this one is not for sale.  It was spoken for before I even had a chance to take a picture of it.  Visit my Fine Art America  for canvas reprints and other merchandise. Sold

Denise's Sunrise

Denise's Sunrise
Acrylic on canvas. 18" X 18 " .  Denise's sunrise.  Thanks go to my friend Denise Vultaggio for letting me use a picture she took.  The photo itself was more than adequate in displaying what views nature can provide for us.  It was a challenge to give anything to the painting that was not already there.   So after thinking about it a lot, probably too much. I will now quote another friend who likes to say "It's all good" You know who you are.   So I just went with it sand decided to just enjoy it and not worry about it.  It ended up being a very enjoyable experience.  I am not sure if you can see it but there are actually a lot of colors in there.    I did my best to get a good picture of this painting but honestly this is truly one of those times that seeing a picture of this does not compare to the real deal.   I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.  Visit Fine Art America

Wild Florida Fan Boat

Wild Florida Fan Boat Ride
Wild Florida Fan Boat Ride This is from a picture Rachna took.  We had a nice fan boat ride from Wild Florida Fan Boat Ride.  The first time I was ever on one. They are very loud.  This was at the end of out trip. There is a very nice little zoo they have built there on the property.  I really like this painting. It was not super complicated but it was soothing to paint and soothing to look at when it was done.  16"X20"  Acrylic on pre-stretched canvas.  Visit Fine Art America to buy

Hogwarts School

Hogwarts School
This a painting I painted for my daughter's birthday.  It is the Hogwarts school of magic at Universal in Orlando Florida. As many of you know I only paint from pictures I took or someone I know.  So we had to get there to take the picture. A lot of work went into getting there to take the picture.  Happy Birthday Raven Love Mommy and Papa.   Visit Fine Arts America if you really like this to get a canvas print of it.  Acrylic on stretched (by me) pre gessso canvas.  16 "x 20"  Sold

Winery Pond

Winery Pond
A nice little winery in California.  I forgot which one I took a picture of.  I will check with a friend who knows where this is.  I start off thinking this was a simple little painting.  It proved to be challenging because of the size and that I needed a larger canvas to give the viewer   a better sense of distance and horizontal planes. It is really beautiful and serene there.  Easy to relax and drink some wine.  Original work acrylic on pre stretched canvas. Visit Winery pond at fineartamerica

My friend tells me this is Ram's Gate Winery

Lilly lake on star island

Lily Lake on Star Island
Lily Lake on Star Island  A nice little painting for that perfect place in that house that needs something small.  Acrylic on canvas Board.  This is a little lake next to Wyndham's Star Island Resort.   8' x 10"

Lily Lake

Lily Lake
Lily Lake Original work. Another painting of the Lilly fields on Star Island Wyndham resort.  It is Acylic on canvas paper.  It is nice stuff to work on once you get past the idea of using paper with Acrylic. Some buckling of the paper does occur.   The nice thing about it is that is allows you to do a bunch of paintings really fast in remote locations without having to carry it.  9 ' x 12"

Nauset Light

Nauset Light
This is Nauset Light, in Eastham, MA.  Original work 16' x 20" Acrylic on pre stretched Canvas.  From a picture provided by Bonnie and Kim.  I love to paint light houses.  They are as distinct and everyone of them carries it's own personality. It is especially meaningful to me when someone has a feeling about a place and captures that in a photograph.  I just try to replicate that feeling in paint.  I hop you enjoy.   Visit my fine art America  for a canvas reproduction. Sold

Bina's Bonarie

Bina's Bonarie
From a nice picture Rachna's cousin took while visiting there. A  Small island of Bonarie  I have to say it was hard to make this better than the picture already was.  It was a bit of selfish reasons to have something bigger on the wall to look at.   It was a lot of fun to paint this. Original work 16" x 20" Visit my fine art America for canvas reprints.

Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon
A view of from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is a little hike from the Main parking lot towards the Village area. I think this is a common sight that a lot of people photograph. The challenge for me here was to create a sense of depth that felt like miles away and still try to maintain some sense detail. I wanted you to feel like there are cliffs and banks of rock without adding too much detail. It seemed like the more detail I added,  the more I lost in how far away it felt.  Acrylic on pre stretched canvas 22' x 30"   I hope you all enjoyed this.  David  Visit my Fine Art America

Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay Acrylic on pre stretched Canvas 22" x 30".  A scene of cliffs and the ocean with succulents and flower beds. The Area of Half Moon Bay.  Although this may seem like a simple painting, it was a little complicated in the composition of it.  I fought with my self to paint every plant that was there.   When I started to do that it just got too busy and uninteresting to look at.  It became more about the plants that the serenity of the ocean and sky. They all got lost.   When I used a more painterly and impressionistic method it became just about the paint and the delicate nature of the flowers was lost.   I opted for a combination of a little structure and some loose painting.  This allowed me give some layers to the scene that would have otherwise been very flat to me.   I am not sure who took the picture. I think it was either Rachna or Maria that took a picture of a scene South of San Francisco.  So thanks for the picture. I hope you all enjoy.  Visit My Fine Art America

Snowy Duluth

Snowy Duluth
From a picture my brother Jim took of Duluth Georgia when it snowed a lot in 2017 .   Acrylic on canvas 20" x 24 ".  This was a challenging and fun painting.  It was difficult to create a sense of depth with only different layers of snow.  Visit Fine my Fine Art America
